Gartner introduces Identity Visibility and Intelligence Platforms (IVIP)
When we founded Bsure, it was to solve a problem we saw in almost every organisation: they didn’t actually know all their identities. The information existed, but it was scattered across systems, and there was no single view to bring it together. Without that, it’s hard to truly understand your attack surface, strengthen security, or control costs.
We built Bsure to change that – to unify identity data, make it clear, and turn it into action. From day one, it was obvious we didn’t fit neatly into existing IAM or IGA categories. And up until now, there hasn't been a recognised category for what we do.
The challenge has only grown as more organisations move to the cloud. Microsoft highlighted this in its 2024 Digital Defense Report, putting “protect identities” at the foundation of its cybersecurity needs pyramid – because without knowing all identities, every other control is built on uncertain ground.
Enter Gartner’s new category
In the 2025 Hype Cycle for Digital Identity, Gartner introduced Identity Visibility and Intelligence Platforms – a category created to address a clear gap:
"…a more robust, comprehensive visibility layer for IAM programs."
For us, this is the first time a category has accurately described what we’ve been building from the very start.
Gartner places Identity Visibility and Intelligence Platforms at the innovation trigger stage, estimating it will take 5–10 years before they reach mainstream adoption. That’s early – and early movers will have a clear advantage.
The figure shows just how new this category is. With Gartner predicting a long path to maturity, now is the time to develop capability in this area. Organisations that start today will be far ahead when it becomes standard practice.
