What IT-Centrum discovered underneath the surface of their Microsoft Entra environment

Download slides
IT-Centrum runs the Microsoft 365 environments for five Swedish municipalities, spread across four Entra tenants and around 30,000 user accounts. They assumed they had reasonably good control. Then they checked.
In this webinar, Samuel Carlid, IT team lead at IT-Centrum, shares what they found and what they did about it:
41% of accounts were not signing in as expected
Nearly 2,800 disabled accounts no one could explain
20 service accounts with high privileges and no known owner
32% of licences sat on accounts that never signed in
Four months after installation, the cleanup had freed up around SEK 200,000 a month in licences no one was using, and accounts that could sign in but never did were gone. The key was not the tool alone, but how IT-Centrum delegated visibility and ownership to the people who actually know the accounts.
"You can never manage or secure something you don't know exists," as Samuel puts it.
Watch the recording for the full story, including how the work improved collaboration between the five IT teams, and the four questions Samuel thinks everyone should ask themselves.
